OVERVIEW
3-Octanol is found in Japanese mint oil and as acetate in European pennyroyal oil. It is a natural alcohol derived from fractional distillation of mint terpene ex-mentha arvensis oil. It is found in alcoholic beverages.
It is present in Mentha species oils, sage, soybeans, porcini (Boletus edulis), wines and other foodstuffs. It is a flavouring agent with pleasing citrus and herbal aroma and also widely used in fragrance.
