OVERVIEW

Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol), obtained from Syzygium aromaticum (commonly known as clove), is the active ingredient in clove oil. This oil is extracted from certain essential oils especially from clove oil, nutmeg, cinnamon, basil and bay leaf which appears as a colourless to clear yellow liquid that smells strongly as clove, the concentration of eugenol varies between 80-90% in clove bud oil and 82-88% in clover leaf oil.

Eugenol belongs to a class of naturally occurring phenolic monoterpenoids, chemically it is an allyl chain-substituted guaiacol. It is a member of the phenylpropanoids class and is remarkably versatile molecule incorporated as a functional ingredient in several products and has found applications in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, fragrance, flavor, cosmetic and various other industries.

This oil offers numerous benefits such as it supports alleviation from pains including those arising from tooth, many dental offices frequently mix it into a paste and use in medicines which they often apply it to the gums to kill germs and relieve the pain of dental surgery such as tooth extractions, fillings, and root canals, supports treatment in case of common cold, coughs, throat issues and issues of digestive system. Further, as a powerful anti-oxidant, the oil also helps in effective removal of harmful toxins present in the body.

It is perfect for use in treating conditions of acne, burns & cuts. Essential oils including basil, rosemary, rose, cinnamon, grapefruit, lemon, nutmeg, peppermint, orange, lavender, geranium blends well with Eugenol.This aromatic chemical is strong in nature and it is advised to be dilute it before application.
