OVERVIEW

Neo menthol, C10H20O, is an entirely natural oil originally steam distilled from the plant, Mentha Arvensis grown in India. It is one of the pure stereo isomer of menthol which is isolated through fractional distillation . It is a monoterpenoid compound generally used as an additive in oral hygiene products and as a flavouring agent in food and beverages. It blends well with Geranium, Spruce oil, Myrrh, Ylang Ylang, Hyssop aroma, Bergamot, Melissa, Sandalwood, Rose and Rosewood.

Neo menthol, a liquid at room temperature, remains in the dementholised oil after l-menthol has been partly removed by freezing, possess menthol-like odour with water-white, transparent appearance. Also, it is extensively used in perfumery composition because of its penetrating fragrance. It is safe for health and hence is also used as a flavouring compound in the food industry.
