OVERVIEW
Orange essential oil, Citrus sinensis (also known as Citrus aurantium var. dulcis and C. aurantium var. sinensis) of the Rutaceae family is a time-tested remedy going back thousands of years.This essential oil is obtained from the peels of orange by cold compression. Unlike other citrus fruits, oranges do not continue to ripen after picking. 

The essential oil of orange has a wide variety of domestic, industrial, and medicinal uses. Well-known for its uplifting and worry-reducing properties, orange oil carries cheerfulness while simultaneously calms, making it ideal as an overall mood enhancer and relaxant. Orange oil is used in many Curacao type liqueurs and for the flavoring of food, drink and confectionery and when added to furniture polish, helps to protect against damage from insects. Orange oil blends particularly well with black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, frankincense, sandalwood and vetiver.

The most abundant phytochemical in orange is d-limonene, at between 80-96 percent. D-limonene has been widely studied for its applications for health, and especially for cancer. Other main chemical components of orange oil are a-pinene, sabinene, myrcene,, linalool, citronellal, neral and geranial.
